This phrasebook includes all the key words and expressions you’ll need for your trip. The content is divided by language and organized into seven chapters, with a color-coded edge index to help you find information quickly.
Each chapter contains example sentences and vocabulary lists to help you form the exact sentence you need in any situation. You’ll also find metric conversion tables and the most common signs used in European and Arab airports and railway stations for extra support.
You can always show someone the translation of what you want to say, but the easy-to-read phonetic alphabet also allows you to pronounce phrases correctly without knowing the language. Punctuation marks have been added to the phonetic spellings to guide proper intonation.
In many European languages, there are two forms of the English “you” (and “your”), depending on whether you are speaking to a friend or child, or to someone you do not know well. We usually use the formal form in the example sentences, although in some languages—especially Italian—the informal form is more commonly used.
